Murrill/Gerbino LLP is a local CPA firm providing tax, accounting and consulting services to individuals, privately-held businesses and their owners.

Larry Murrill

Larry is a founding partner of Murrill/Gerbino, LLP and has been practicing since 1978.  A graduate of  Oregon State University, he gained valuable experience in one of the largest accounting firms in the country, before starting his accounting practice in 1983.

He has over 40 years of experience serving individuals and privately held businesses in the areas of income tax planning and compliance, IRS audit representation, advanced tax planning, financial reporting, budgeting and strategic planning. In particular, he enjoys helping people get a handle on their finances and consulting with entrepreneurs at the early stages of their business life.

Larry’s industry experience is broad. He has served companies involved with biotech, real estate development, manufacturing, professional services, construction, insurance services, advertising and other business services.

In his spare time, Larry enjoys golf, travel and college football.

Jason Gerbino

Jason is a tax partner with Murrill/Gerbino LLP.  Jason has over 20 years of public accounting and tax planning experience for individuals, corporations, partnerships and trusts.  He is responsible for the tax services of Murrill/Gerbino and ensuring that our firm provides proactive service and timely responses to clients. Jason particularly enjoys helping clients get a handle on their finances through tax planning and assistance.

Jason has a variety of industry experience with real estate, advertising, law firms, and other professional services.

In his spare time, you can find him at the gym, traveling and volunteering with his local church

Kristen Cartwright

Kristen has 23 years of experience as a CPA providing accounting and tax services to a wide variety of industries including professional services, hospitality, real estate partnerships and high net worth individuals.  Before joining the firm in 2015, Kristen was a tax manager for a large local CPA firm in Seattle, WA where she focused on tax compliance and consulting for closely-held businesses and their owners as well as estates and trusts. 

Kristen received her Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, with a concentration in accounting, from Western Washington University.  In her spare time, Kristen enjoys traveling, hiking with her dog, Bruiser, and spending time with friends and family. 

Clay Coleman

Clay graduated with honors in Business Accounting from San Diego State University and has been in practice since 1990.  He has wide and varied experience obtained with different size firms including one of the biggest accounting firms.

The bulk of his career has been at a high-end boutique firm in La Jolla emphasizing small businesses and high wealth individuals.  In addition to being a well-rounded tax generalist, he specializes in advising small businesses on tax and accounting matters, complex interrelated client groups (such as legal and medical groups, real estate development groups, etc.) and estate and trust matters.  

He is also a high-end QuickBooks consultant and provides resolution, training and development services. 

He is also a resource for probate attorneys and professional fiduciaries. He is efficient and experienced in preparing estate tax returns including the typical interactive communication with a client and all of their advisors such as attorneys, wealth advisors, staff, etc.

A defining characteristic is his ability to “think outside the box” when providing tax and small business consulting. He has worked with clients in evaluating and syndicating private investments, successfully finding solutions to troubling situations and finding the opportunities in the seemingly annual sweeping changes to the tax laws.

Clay grew up in the ski and outdoor resort area of Mammoth Lakes which has led to a lifetime interest in sports and physical activities with a current focus on golf, hiking and tennis.

Johanna Lampert

Johanna joined Murrill/Gerbino, LLP in August 2013 and has over 20 years of experience working directly with Larry and Jason. She handles all administrative, financial and managerial functions of the firm.   

Johanna ensures the smooth operation of the firm. She enjoys working in a high-volume, high-pressure environment. Johanna has developed strong working relationships with staff, clients and vendors. She is a graduate of UCSD. In her spare time Johanna enjoys hiking, crafting, paddleboarding and traveling with her family.

Bruiser

Bruiser’s industry experience is broad. He currently serves as the office greeter but has held numerous roles. He has extensive experience in retrieving goods, guarding spaces, and is exceptional at providing emotional support. 

In his spare time, Bruiser enjoys walks, belly rubs and eating treats.
